Image Editing is Computer Graphic Design by another name, as far as most people are concerned.
And Graphic Design is essential for anyone involved in the Arts if they want to avoid paying for costly designers, and printers,
as well as 'getting to know what's involved on the computer side of things'.
Whether you are involved in the Arts or not, learning how to find your way around extremely useful but fairly complicated programs
is a very useful skill to have.
CMD's courses cover both Adobe's Photoshop and Macromedia's Fireworks (you choose); course topics are the same for both as there are many similarities between them.
Fireworks is recommended if your primary aim is to edit and optimise images for the web and has been built to work particularly well with the other Macromedia products
(Dreamweaver and Flash); Photoshop can also do this but is used more widely on its own for posters and layouts and by those who want to use a greater range of plugins and filters for particular effects.
If you are undecided which to take please speak to us.
Note that whichever package you choose there will be a final session in each of the courses devoted to introducing the other, ie. if you decide
to follow the Fireworks route, the final session will be on Photoshop (eg. comparing and contrasting), and vice-versa.
As with our Web Page Design courses, we have increased the scope of topics covered for each of the courses below, (beyond eDCC* requirements).
WebRemixers, our web design and development team, have made extensive use of both packages for their business and personal websites.
All courses have Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels and are individually certified (eDCC*), allowing students to
gain a certificate no matter what level they finish at. Courses can of course be tailored around specific areas.
